Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline S/O Urinary Dry Cat Food (23223)

It is recommended that a veterinarian's opinion be sought before and during the use of this product in order to determine the needs of your cat.

  • Prescribed by veterinarians for the nutritional management of adult cats with lower urinary tract disease
  • Contains urine acidifying properties
  • Struvite Dissolution - helps to dissolve struvite stones and reduce their recurrence
  • Low RSS - helps lower the concentration of ions in the urine, inhibiting the development of struvite and calcium oxalate crystals
  • Urine dilution - promotes a larger urinary volume to ensure regular bladder wash out and prevent crystals
  • Low in the magnesium that is a component of struvite uroliths

Indications – recommended for cases of:

  • Struvite uroliths: dissolution and management of recurrence 
  • Calcium oxalate uroliths: management of recurrence

Contraindications - not recommended in cases of:

  • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
  • Heart Disease (when sodium restriction is sought)
  • Concurrent use of urine - acidifying drugs
  • Growth, gestation, lactation 
  • Hypertension 

Advice:

  • The wet version of Urinary S/O Feline is recommended for recurrent idiopathic cystitis
  • In older cats, renal function should be checked before Urinary S/O Feline is prescribed

 

Feeding Advice:

  • It is recommended that a veterinarian’s opinion be sought before use, before extending the period of use and before stopping use
  • Feed Urinary S/O for 5 to 12 weeks for the dissolution of struvite stones
  • Feed up to 6 months for the reduction of struvite stone recurrence
  • The cat should be regularly re-evaluated by the veterinarian to assess the relevance of lifelong recommendation
  • This product can be used long-term under the guidance of your veterinarian
  • Urinary S/O is recommended for recurrent idiopathic cystitis
  • In older cats, renal function should be checked before recommendation
