Indications – may be prescribed to nutritionally manage:
Primary Indications:
- Diabetes in underweight, normal weight, mildly overweight, or obese cats
- Hepatic lipidosis (non-encephalopathic)
Other Indications:
- Weight loss & maintenance (obese-prone or post weight loss)
- Mild to moderate stages of heart disease, including asymptomatic
- Neoplasia, most forms
Contraindications:
- Growing kittens, pregnant or nursing cats
- Cats with kidney disease, concurrent use of urinary acidifiers, debilitation or dehydration
Feeding Advice:
- It is recommended that a veterinarian’s opinion be sought before use and during the period of use
- Do not allow obese cats to consume less than 80% of recommended feeding amount. Fasting may increase the risk of hepatic lipidosis
- Individual requirements will vary depending on pre-existing nutritional status and medical condition
- Consult with the treating veterinarian to establish a feeding guide for the individual patient
- Adjust feeding amounts as necessary to maintain optimal weight - if you are unsure, ask your veterinarian
