- Complete and balanced food that provides all the needed nutrition
- Controlled levels of magnesium, phosphorus, and calcium help limit the building blocks of crystals and bladder stones
- Low sodium to help decrease calcium excretion into the urine
- Added antioxidants (including Vitamin E and Beta Carotene) to control cell oxidation and promote a healthy immune system
- Potassium citrate is added to reduce the chance of calcium oxalate crystal and urolith formation
- Targets urinary pH that discourages the formation and aggregation of struvite crystals
Indications – may be prescribed to nutritionally manage:
- Calcium oxalate urolithiasis - reduces recurrence
- Calcium phosphate urolithiasis - reduces recurrence
- Struvite urolithiasis - reduces recurrence
- Struvite dissolution
Contraindications:
- Growing puppies, pregnant or nursing dogs
- Patients with concurrent use of urinary acidifiers
- Non-struvite or non-calcium oxalate crystalluria
- Hyperlipidemia
- Pancreatitis, history of pancreatitis or at risk of pancreatitis
