Animal Rescue QLD Inc (ARQ) is a 100% no kill organisation and not for profit incorporation that was started as a result of the flood affected animals in SEQ in January 2011. After our founder, Mel Gillard, saw firsthand the devastation these floods had on not only people and their homes, but also their pets, it was clear that there was not enough being done in our local community to look after homeless animals. As a result ARQ was formed to assist with their inflated numbers of animals during the flood period. We were able to help these animals out of the overcrowded shelter environment and into loving and caring foster homes.
We currently have carers and support teams in and around Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Toowoomba and Mackay and rely heavily on the generous donations of members of the public to be able to continue doing what we do.
