Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Hepatic Canned Wet Dog Food

It is recommended that a veterinarian's opinion be sought before and during the use of this product in order to determine the needs of your dog.

  • Prescribed by veterinarians for the nutritional management and support of liver function in dogs with chronic liver conditions
  • Easily digested and absorbed vegetable protein
  • Low level of copper and increased zinc content helps reduce the accumulation of copper in liver cells
  • Antioxidant complex to help fight free radicals, maintain healthy DNA, promote a healthy immune system and protect liver cells
  • High energy provided by increased dietary fat helps maintain bodyweight
  • Calorie dense formula permits smaller meal volumes to be fed
  • Reduced sodium content helps reduce high blood pressure in the portal vein, which helps prevent the accumulation of fluid in the abdomen

Indications – may be prescribed to nutritionally manage:

  • Chronic hepatitis
  • Portosystemic shunt
  • Hepatic encephalopathy
  • Copper storage disease

Contraindications: 

  • Pancreatitis or history of pancreatitis
  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Acute hepatitis without hepatic encephalopathy 
  • Growth, gestation/lactation

Ingredients

Poultry by-products, rice, maize grits, maize flour, sunflower oil refined, powdered cellulose, minerals, fish oil, beet pulp, fructooligosaccharides, marigold extract (source of lutein).

Vitamin D3: 300 IU, Iron: 13 mg, Iodine: 0.7 mg, Copper: 0.8 mg, Manganese: 5.8 mg, Zinc: 24 mg, Selenium: 0.039 mg.

Feeding duration varies depending on the pathology and on the regenerative ability of the hepatic tissue. Lifelong feeding may be necessary in cases of chronic disease. To reduce the postprandial hepatic load, it is recommended to divide the recommended daily intake into several small meals.
